In this work, as in Berlewi's Meccano-facture, the lattice serves as the precursor of a retinal operation. In this way, by pure graphic means, a vibration of graphic and chromatic areas, real and induced, is realized by means of rhythmic repetition, and the sign itself acquires a different value.
The pattern constituted in this way in the largest zone acquires a formal qualification which, insistently repeated, is like a note struck again and again to mark the meter-rhythm of the whole. The connection of the zones, the high value of the angular gray zone, establishes what we could call the exact counterpoint of this purely visual demonstration of a phenomenal intuition: it could be considered a starting point for more scientific developments that were to be carried out by other researchers.
