This landmark 1990 edition by Edition Domberger GmbH brings together a remarkable selection of Russian contemporary artists, capturing the spirit and innovation of Moscow Conceptualism and Soviet Nonconformist Art. Under the direction of Michael Domberger, whose decades-long dedication to exceptional graphic arts and silkscreen printing ensured the highest quality and authenticity, the portfolio stands as a testament to a fruitful collaboration between artists and one of Europe’s most prestigious print workshops.

Michael Domberger recalls:

"A visit to Moscow, a first contact with Russian artists and their works through our 'Kinderstern' portfolio, sympathy at first sight and interest in the works — all that marked the beginning. After the first meetings with Prigov, Orlov, Litichevskiy, Rojter, Zvezdochetov, Zacharov, and Filippov, the idea for this portfolio came to life. I was particularly intrigued by what these artists had experienced working internationally, and how they adapted to new environments in Rome, Sydney, Amsterdam, New York, or Cologne. The portfolio stands as a permanent and impressive document of this close and productive collaboration."

Today, Leaving Moscow is celebrated not only as a work of art but also as a historical document of Russian conceptual and unofficial art, combining artistic innovation, technical mastery, and the personal signatures of the participating artists.

This portfolio is a rare collector’s treasure, a testament to Moscow Conceptualism and the pioneering spirit of Russian contemporary artists on the international stage.
