From the Moving Focus series, David Hockney’s Tyler Dining Room displays a coluorful and cubist-inspired interior. Widely considered one of Britain’s most influential artists, Hockney here depicts bright and disjointed hotels, patios, and rooms, in his largest print series. Hockney’s interest in Picasso and cubism are strongly present in this print, showing a multi-perspectival view of the room and featuring abstract artwork on the wall, mimicking the curves and angles of the brilliant orange dinner table, creating a scene seemingly in constant motion. Hockney’s images from this series also display his interest and experience in set design, which he worked on for operas around the world, seen in the warped shape and the all-encompassing perspective of the space.
