Original Salvador Dalí etching with Gilt Accents "Star of Bethlehem" (Christmas Card), hand-signed by Dalí in pencil (1971)
This rare and intimate work by Salvador Dalí exists exclusively in the form of a Christmas card, created in 1971. Star of Bethlehem depicts a tender scene: an adult and a child stand before a grand Christmas tree, illuminated by the radiant Star of Bethlehem above. The tree is highlighted with hand-applied gold, using the pochoir (stencil) technique, adding a warm and festive glow to the image.
Printed at the renowned Ateliers Rigal in Paris using intaglio and stencil processes, the etching is documented in Salvador Dalí: Catalogue Raisonné of Etchings and Mixed-Media Prints 1924–1980 by Michler & Löpsinger (No. 480) and by Field (71-19). Each print is hand-signed in pencil by Dalí.
